M18 Frankfurt – Let’s crash their party!

M18 Against the Opening-Party of the ECB: „March 18th 2015 will see the inauguration of a monument to European crisis policy when the new headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) opens in Frankfurt. At the ceremony, the representatives of the European member-states will pat themselves on the back for their crisis-solutions whilst using the celebrations to prepare for the next round. We will come from all over Europe and beyond to crash this party. […] We invite all antiauthoritarian and social movements to participate – in the discussion about austerity and crisis and in the actions on the 18th of March 2015 in Frankfurt/Germany.“

Best/Worst Dressed Demonstrator + Bremen Demo and Netherlands Squatting Actions

This picture, from the demonstration on Saturday against the 20 Years of German Reunification celebrations was definitely our smile of the day yesterday. The picture is actually from the mainstream press, for the version here though, without faces…

(although, even if it made us happy, we still do suggest good old plain black for demonstrations)

Aside from that, well over 2.000 people at the demonstration, making it a relative success as far as the mobilization aspect is concerned. The much expected conflicts with the state and its dogs, I mean pigs, emmm…police did not materialize. The demonstration was accompanied by an equal number of police, once again proving the sadly obvious (as was the case most recently in Göttingen with the demonstration on the 20th anniversary of „Conny“s death) that even the most intense mobilizations of the autonomous and radical left in todays reality do not lead to a situation where it is possible to create situations of „unmediated rupture“ and direct confrontation with the state in an effective manner. Nevertheless, some impressions of the demo…

Otherwise, in the Netherlands, at the demonstrations against the new law forbidding squatting…

Amsterdam:

The demo…

The confrontation with the cops.

Nijmegen:

This Weekend: Against German Festivities in Bremen, Against Sarkozys Reforms in France, In Defense of Squatting in the Netherlands, Stopping Nazis in Halberstadt…

Too much on offer this weeekend. Here below are links, images, videos, and general infos regarding just *some* of the highlights, by no means a complete listing (there was even a complaint last time about a demo not being mentioned…a. this isnt indymedia, b. there is a „comments“ section….feel free to use it.)

Most exciting is probably France in general, because the demonstrations promise to be massive indeed and are part of a wide social struggle (not to mention that in Metz there is also the added attraction of the CNT festival).

Equally exciting and important, but in a very different way, is the demonstration against the 20 year celebrations of German unification in Bremen.

Aside from those, there is a demonstration in Amsterdam against the new law outlawing squatting (another development fit to shake ones faith in humanity…when you can no longer walk into a building in Holland with some furniture and not be breaking the law!), and, at least in theory, the closing acts of the No Border camp in Brussels. For those of you in this region, there are also anti-Nazi activities in Halberstadt.

What about us? The serious and hard-working Fire and Flames crew will be in Metz, demonstrating all day and tabling all night. The party fraction will be, ummm, elsewhere.

Here we go…

*Bremen, 20 Years of German Reunification: You say Deutschland, we Say Die!

-For those of you who missed it, the united Germany is turning 20 years old.
-The occasion is used to celebrate the new, modern Germany, and a wide range of left-wing radical, extra-parliamentarian, anti-authoritarian, autonome, anarchist, and assorted other marginals will be there to, hopefully as effectively as back in 1994, send an unmistakeable message of rejection towards the state, this state, and everything this state and the other ones stand for.

-You can visit the page of the coalition of Bremen based groups mobilizing for the demonstration by clicking the picture below…

-Getting there? Busses from everywhere and everywhere. This one is from Frankfurt, the image is just nice.

-The weeks running up to this date have been marked by many different militant actions in and around Bremen. A good overview of these, as well as other aspects regarding the demo and Bremen based politics in general, can be found at End of Road.
-The „Ums Ganze“ coalition is also mobilizing to the demonstration, and has released the following mobilization video:

*Mass Mobilization Against the Retirement Reform Law in France

After two very successful 24 hour general strikes, the French unions have called for a day of mass demonstrations on 02.10, in order to allow those who dont work union jobs or without jobs or who for whatever reasons cant demonstrate on a weekday to also show their opposition to Sarkozys planned reforms. Expect millions of people on the streets, in what is hopefully only a preview in the buildup to the next show of force…the general strike planned for 12.10.

In Metz, „unitarian“ demonstration at noon time, CNT demonstration to the offices of the „Medef“ (boss lobby) in the evening, and concert at night.

*Demonstration to oppose the illegalization of squatting in the Netherlands…

*Antifa Sportfest in Halberstadt
If it will really take the form of a „antifa sportfest“ is (sadly) highly questionable. But regardless, we wish them the best of luck, and if you want to know more about the who, what, why, when, and where…click the image…
